The parable of life

The apparent message of the gospel, Mt 13:44-46, is, building on other parables about the Kingdom, affirming the importance of the Kingdom, so much that nothing is too much to give up in search of it and nothing is too much to commit into getting it. This is not to say that the Kingdom of God is a commodity to be purchased. It remains a gift from God. Still, we shouldn't play down the human efforts in this regard.
Meanwhile, it is not out place to reflect on some of the hidden messages of the parable. I wish to bring up just one: how should one describe the owner of the land with the treasure and the owner of the pearl? Did they truly value what they had? Why did they let go of them? Well, many of us can let go of anything in exchange of some other things we value more.
Like the prophet Jeremiah and St Alphonsus Liguori, we must remain committed to teaching the message of the Kingdom even when we meet with opposition.
God loves you! God bless you!
