Gospel: Mt.13:31-35

Theme: *The value of little things!*

With a parable, Jesus compared the kingdom of heaven with the mustard seed; the smallest of all seeds but grows to become the greatest of all shrubs with branches for the birds of the air. He again compared it with the leaven which a woman puts in a 3 measure of flour till it was all leaven. Jesus taught them all these in parable in fulfilment of the prophecy that he would open his mouth in parables & utter what has been hidden since the foundation of the world.

It was St. Theresa of the Child Jesus who was asked to explain the easiest way to make heaven. She summarized it as doing ordinary things in an extraordinary manner. This is The Little Way & it consists in valuing little things!

Blessed people, sometimes in life we have this belief that all that is good comes in a very big way & as such, we have the tendency not to value little things. Going with this kind of mentality, we stand to loose many chances & opportunities to blossom either spiritually or materially or even both.

Jesus compared the kingdom of heaven with the mustard seed & leaven to draw our attention to the value of little things. Here we bear in mind the importance of little beginning. We must not need millions of cash to start up a business & we must not say all the prayers & attend all crusades before we become spiritual or have our prayers answered, but with consistency, resilience & commitment we can see the little we have transformed or grown into a mighty empire.

We are called today to develope the mindset of seeing the intrinsic value of little things that have the inert potentiality of blossoming into the biggest things. In waiting for God, Elijah looked out to see him in strong wind, earthquakes & fire but he finally met him in a gentle breeze (1Kg.19:11-12).

Let us pray: God our Father, teach us always to value the little things we see in our daily encounters. May we see their inert potentiality of blossoming into big things. Amen!

We pray for all those who neglect the little things they encounter in their lives. May they have a rethink & see great potentials in those things. Amen!

Be refreshed in the new working week!

We shall make it with little things!
