Maria Mimo Iya Afirika: Maria Ayaba Mimo

                       30th April, 2018
As we give thanks to God for leading us to last day of the month of April, it is proper to launch into the months ahead with renewed confidence and hope in the care of God for us.
No doubt, we need our fathers and mothers but for different things. The care of a mother for her children is indisputable and indispensable. The sensitivity of mothers too is beyond doubt. This is what the church in Africa rings into our hearing as we celebrate the Feast of Our Lady, the Mother of Africa.
As we read in Jn 2:1-11, Mary is such a sensitive Mother who does not want any of her children to be put shame, which would have been the case if she didn't come to aid of the couple concerned. She is such a sensitive Mother who will not wait to be told before she  does the needful. She is such a Mother who knows what her Son, our Saviour  can do. Thus, she is always saying to us: "do whatever he tells you." As she was with the early Christians, see Acts 1:12-14, as she interceded for the couple in Cana, she is ever willing to do the same with and for us.
At this point in the history of our continent marked with political nadir in many of our countries, we can only trust in the maternal succour of Our Lady. May she continue to intercede for us.
God loves you! God bless you!

     THE ENDURING WORD
